Understanding the Bible

If God is good, why do bad things still happen?

Goodness is not a promise of a painless life. Suffering does not get to define God or finish the story.

Early Christians suffered and still called God good.

Faith is not ‘nothing painful will happen.’ Faith is ‘nothing can separate me from His love, and He can still redeem this.’

This remains a live question. Hold it with honesty and with Romans 8.

Verses

  • Romans 8:28-39Nothing shall separate us.
  • John 16:33In the world you will have trouble. I have overcome.
  • Psalm 23Through the valley, not around it.

A next step. Tell God the pain without accusing His character. Ask for presence more than a theory.
